What are the prices for testing?
The market price for safety testing in accordance with standard for the product is typically € 2,000 – 10,000 depending on the standard and the product. For product families the unit price is much smaller. The price for testing complex products can differ from the above price range. The final price is always given in the offer.
In testing various aspects of product are investigated thoroughly
During testing, experts investigate various properties of the product. Safety testing verifies that the product does not cause electrical shock, or pose fire, radiation or mechanical hazards. Most electrical appliances are subjected to a mechanical strength test, and conformity of appliance’s components with the standard is ensured.
Product review
The relevant product standards are continuously changing. New compulsory and market-based certification systems are developed round the world. When product requirements are taken into account already at the very start, product development projects will advance rapidly and the product will be come out on the market in accordance with the planned schedule.

A basis for Pre- and Full Compliance testing
During the product review we will make a recommendation when to carry out the Pre-Compliance and when the Full Compliance testing. The aim of the Pre-Compliance testing is to find out probable defects with the help of a so-called short test program before the Full Compliance testing is carried out, which proves the product’s conformity with the standards.

The best benefit of the product review you will get, when we carry out the product review at your premises, as we will be able to review:
- Products already marketed and
- Products under planning.
The product review can of course also be carried out at SGS Fimko’s premises. We recommend that the product review would be carried out at regular bases, e.g. once to twice a year.
Pre-Compliance testing accelerates product development
In addition to type testing that checks that the product is in conformity with the standard, the product is also subjected to testing during the product development stage. The testing carried out during the product development stage is called Pre-Compliance testing and is less expensive than the Full Compliance testing according to the standard. The delivery time for Pre-Compliance testing is generally 1 week. The earlier the product is tested the more profitable and faster the development of the product will be. The delivery time for Full Compliance testing is generally 2-5 weeks.

Testing is also the only way to ensure that a product complies with the EU directives and to prove this to the authorities.
