When testing electrical and telecommunication equipment, accessories, tools, machinery and appliances the characteristics of the products are evaluated in many different ways.
Testing normally takes 1-4 weeks while, certification can be carried out in a few days. Testing should ideally be started at the product development stage, as this gives you an early indication of the product’s compliance with the standards, thus allowing any changes to be made in time.
The safety testing is designed to ensure that the product does not cause electrical shock or a fire, radiation or mechanical hazard. Endurance testing is also carried out on most products and products are also checked to make sure that they consist of tested components that comply with the requirements. This should also lead to fewer problems in the maintenance of the product. Electromagnetic compatibility is checked with EMC testing. SGS Fimko can also carry out testing in accordance with telecommunication requirements, energy consumption tests and tests for hundreds of other standards.
Use of the manufacturer’s testing laboratory According to international agreements the manufacturer’s own testing laboratory and test results can also be used in accordance with the TMP (Testing at Manufacturer’s Premises), SMT (Supervised Manufacturer’s Testing) WTM (Witness Testing at Manufacturer’s Premises) or RMT (Recognized Manufacturer’s Testing) procedures.
