FI and SGS FI mark

SGS Fimko’s FI mark is a well-known and respected impartial certification mark indicating the safety and quality of a product. The SGS FI mark introduced in November 2006 is a combination of FI mark’s reliability and the recognition of SGS.

More than 75% of Finns over 15 years of age recognize the FI mark and almost 70% takes it in consideration when buying electrical equipment. SGS is especially renowned among professional buyers around the world.

Information about safe electrical and electronic equipment may be obtained from SGS Fimko’s register of certified products.

FI mark can only be used on products that have a valid FI certificate granted by SGS Fimko. The SGS FI mark is especially applicable for companies exporting to Europe and the global market.

One certification - two marks

The testing and factory inspection requirements that are the basis for SGS FI mark are the same as for FI mark. On the basis of the FI certificate both the right to use FI mark and SGS FI mark can be obtained. The right to use SGS FI mark gives the right also to use FI mark. On the basis of testing for granting SGS FI mark e.g. GS mark certification, GOST R certification etc. can be granted.

Which countries recognize the FI and the SGS FI mark?

The FI mark is well known in all the countries of the European Economic Area as proof of the conformity of the product with safety requirements. It also provides the basis for certification in many other countries. The FI mark has thus become a strong selling point for products in increasingly competitive Finnish and other European markets. FI certification and SGS Fimko’s other services provide a reliable basis for the European Union CE marking.

For FI mark and SGS FI testing, Finnish SFS standards, European EN standards or worldwide IEC standards are usually used. The FI mark and the SGS FI mark are thus valid for most electrical equipment, machinery and gas appliances.
