CB certificates issued by SGS Fimko can serve as the basis for application for national certification marks.
In which countries are CB certificates recognized?
49 countries are members the CB Scheme. Besides Finland (SGS Fimko), the countries that recognize CB certificates include:
Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russian Federation, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Uruguay and USA.
The CB certificate also gives the product added value in other countries where the certificate is familiar. In the European Union, the CB certificate is the basis for CE marking with regard to safety requirements.
To which products can a CB certificate be granted?
The CB Scheme applies to products for which there is a valid IEC standard. The products and standards covered by SGS Fimko's certification service are listed on the pages describing SGS Fimko's services/product testing.
To whom is the CB certificate granted?
Manufacturers of electrical equipment in any country can benefit from the CB Scheme. Countries not covered by the Scheme will be charged a special fee according to CB-Rules. Yield from the special fee is managed by the Secretariat.
Conditions for Granting a CB certificate and its Benefits
- Written application: Application forms can be obtained from SGS Fimko
- Type testing at SGS Fimko or in a testing laboratory recognized under the CB Scheme. The testing can also be carried out at the manufacturers’ premises. The tested product must fulfill the requirements.
- SGS Fimko also takes national deviations into consideration in testing. In order to obtain the right to use the certification marks of other countries without repeating any tests, the company shall submit to SGS Fimko:
- Application
- Specimen
- Test report
- CB certificate
- Documents regarding any other relevant requirements
Each certification body sets its own fees for application processing and the use of its mark.
